ROOK RIFLE. Cal. 300 Rook. S# 2. Oct. 26" bbl. Top flat is matted with blade front sight, 3 leaf rear sight & space for retailer's mark. Water table has Knight's head maker's mark, "86" & Birmingham Black Powder proofs. Side-lever external hammer single shot action. Walnut stock set: checkered forearm with horn tip, capped pistol grip with grooved butt & oval German silver toeline name plate. CONDITION: barrel has traces of blue mixed with gray/brown patina showing marks & oxidation. Receiver has good case colors & blue with scratches, peppery oxidation & carry wear. Good wood finish with numerous light dings & scratches. Good shallow rifling w/ light wear & pitting. PROVENANCE: Estate of Groves Herrick. (25-5722/MD). CURIO. $400-600.
